My name is Fausto Sicha (A.K.A. Tino) and I am an Ecuadorian immigrant who arrived in the United States nine years ago. I started my journey as an immigrant by washing dishes. Eventually, I proceeded to learn English, attend the presidential inauguration of Barack Obama, and obtain a Master’s Degree in International Relations from the City University of New York.

In this website you will find a collection of articles I have written, in addition to articles I co-authored with friends who studied at Yale, Columbia, and New York University. You will also find academic material written by several Ibero-American authors. The articles discuss issues such as the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR), immigration, economy, and politics both in Ecuador and in Latin America. The main purpose of these articles is to offer ideas on how to reduce migration, invest migrant’s remittances, pass legislation, fight corruption, create jobs, reduce the informal economy, and diversify sources of income for the Ecuadorian and Latin American economy.

I encourage you to write, share your ideas, and comment on these articles. Together, we can improve the conditions in which we live; together, we can construct the path to return to the places we left behind. It is my belief that the free expression of men and women should always be encouraged, and that the right information can help us make better decisions.

Mi nombre es Fausto Sicha, yo soy un inmigrante ecuatoriano que arribó a los Estados Unidos hace nueve años atrás. En mi dura experiencia como inmigrante empecé lavando platos, pero eventualmente aprendí ingles, atendí la inauguración presidencial de Barak Obama y obtuve una Maestría en Relaciones Internacionales de City University of New York.

En este sitio usted encontrara artículos escritos por mi y artículos que escribo junto con amigos que estudiaron en Yale, Columbia, New York University etc. Usted también encontrara material académico escrito por algunos autores iberoamericanos. Estos artículos hablan sobre temas como la Unión de Naciones Sudamericanas (UNASUR), inmigración, economía, y política ecuatoriana y latinoamericana. El propósito principal de estos artículos es ofrecer ideas que ayuden a; pasar legislación que beneficie a los inmigrantes, invertir el dinero que los inmigrantes envía a nuestro país, reducir los niveles de migración, crear plazas de empleo, diversificar las fuentes de ingreso económico de la economía ecuatoriana, reducir los niveles de corrupción, y reducir la economía informal en nuestra país.
